Hopstage 1 : Lima to Paracas

Bus Details

Pick up at your hotel or hostel in Lima (if staying in an Airbnb send us an email).

Choose between 2 bus options from Lima:

OCTOBER 2021 UPDATE
Due to ongoing Covid-19 restrictions, the Hacienda San Jose (Secret Slave Tunnels) remains closed until the end of October 2021. Departures from Lima leave at 6am on the express service to Paracas (see below). During this time we will be adding an additional free stop of a local tejas-making workshop (a dumpling-shaped confection that contains dulce de leche filling and either dried fruits or nuts) in Ica at no extra cost.

7am Cultural Route:

Allows you to stop at places like Mirasur to witness a Peruvian horse show (free) and visit the Secret Slave Tunnels in Chincha (exclusive hidden gem stop – free)

6am Express Route:

Direct 3.5 hour bus to Paracas (ideal for those short on time and for some would rather not spend 1 night in Paracas)

Top Things to do in Paracas

  • Go on a quad bike tour through the Paracas National Reserve. For more information click here!
  • Paraglide over Peru’s largest protected natural habitat. For more information click here!
  • Go on the amazing Golden Shadows Trek and witness one of the best sunsets in Peru. For more information click here!
  • Practice kitesurfing on some of Peru's best waves.
  • Chill out by the pool or the beach and take advantage of the year-round sunny weather
  • Paracas National Reserve where the desert meets the sea, a truly unbelievable sight (free with your Peru Hop wristband)
  • Enjoy ceviche, the national dish of Peru, on the rooftop of Restaurant Paracas – home to one of the best views in town (exclusive discount when you show your Peru Hop wristband)

Ballestas Islands: See native wildlife such as penguins, sea lions, marine birds and sometimes even dolphins or whales. The tour of the ‘poor man’s Galapagos’ lasts about 2 hours and begins at 08:00am or 10:00am.

Recommended Number Of Nights In Paracas

We recommend staying in Paracas at least 1 night.

This will allow you to do BOTH the Ballestas Islands and the Paracas National Reserve (not possible to do both unless you stay a night).

This also allows time to do some other activities, as well as get to know your other Hopsters on your 1st night of your trip as most people usually go out for food and drinks together.

Peru Hop Insider Tip: For those very short on time, you can take the 6am Express bus from Lima to Paracas, do the Ballestas Islands OR the National Reserve, and then take the 1pm bus from Paracas to Huacachina (Hopstage 2).

As always, if you love Paracas, you can hop off and stay as long as you want!. You can decide this up to 12 hours before the next bus!

Accommodation

Book your own hotel or check below for our recommended partners who offer special deals to Peru Hop passengers. Accommodation CAN be reserved with your Peru Hop onboard guide but we recommend this option mainly for dorm rooms as a lot of private rooms sell out in advance.

Click here to see our recommended accommodations with discounts for this pass.

Hopstage 2 : Paracas to Huacachina

Bus Details

Meeting point in Paracas is Los Frayles Hotel (within 50 metres of all major hostels and hotels).

Buses depart at 1pm sharp.

Top Things To Do In Huacachina

  • Explore the only desert oasis in South America
  • Visit a Pisco Vineyard and learn all about how the national drink of Peru is made
  • Camp overnight in the stunning sand dunes near Huacachina and gaze up at the stars
  • Relax by the pool and soak in the heat of the desert

Dune buggy and Sandboarding: Guaranteed to be one of the most adrenaline-filled activities you’ve experienced in your life! Dune Buggy through the dunes of the desert, sandboard down and finish it all off by taking some stunning snaps of the desert sunset at the end. The tour begins at 16:00pm and lasts 2 hours.

Recommended Number Of Nights In Huacachina

We recommend at least 1 night in Huacachina as this gives you time to do the Dune Buggy and Sandboarding, as well as the Pisco Vineyard Tour and still have enough time to climb the dunes and marvel at the incredible Oasis. Huacachina is also famous for its nightly BBQ and our guides often host free salsa lessons.

As always, if you love Huacachina, you can hop off and stay as long as you want! You can decide this up to 12 hours before the next bus!

Accommodation

Book your own hotel/hostel or see below for our recommended partners who offer special deals to Peru Hop passengers. Accommodation CAN be reserved with your Peru Hop onboard guide but we recommend this mainly for dorm rooms as a lot of private rooms sell out in advance.

The shuttle departs Huacachina at 8:30 am, you take the flight at 11 am and then you can meet our Peru Hop bus at 7 pm in Nazca.

For more information about the Nazca Lines Flight, click here.

For more information about the private shuttle, contact us or ask your guide on board.

Machu Picchu: Do a trek (Classic Inca Trail or Salkantay), a combined trek/biking tour (Inka Jungle Trek) or take the train roundtrip from Cusco (can be done as a full day but 2 days staying the night before in Aguas Calientes is advised).

Rainbow Mountain: Discover this mind-blowing natural wonder, famous for its many colors creating a “rainbow” effect. Only recently discovered, it’s become one of Peru’s must-see attractions.

If you want to learn more, click here!

Recommended Number Of Nights In Cusco

We recommend spending at least 3-4 nights in Cusco, (not including a trek to Machu Picchu) so that you can experience as much of the Inca capital as possible. From the jaw-dropping Rainbow Mountain to the impressive fortress of Sacsayhuamán overlooking the city, there are endless amazing activities and things to see in Cusco. Ask our guides for more information if you’re not sure about what to do!

As always, if you love Cusco, you can hop off and stay as long as you want! You can decide this up to 12 hours before the next bus!

Info About Our Luxury Buses

Peru Hop – #1 Bus Company In Peru

As well as an unbeatable safety record, Peru Hop is also famous for its punctuality and comfort. In South America, where things often run later than scheduled, we are very proud to say we achieve a 98.5% on-time arrival for each trip.

If comparing Peru Hop to other bus companies, make sure you check their safety record, past accidents, as well as their Tripadvisor page (if they even bother to have one) as often you will find there is a reason why some bus companies have “cheaper” prices than Peru Hop.

Features Of Our Buses

  • 40 semi-bed reclining seats: All with sponge foam pads for added comfort.
  • Modern and clean toilet: Unlike public buses that often smell bad and are not cleaned regularly.
  • High-tech temperature controlled air system: We ensure it is never too hot or too cold.
  • 3 LCD TVs on board: Just sit back and enjoy English-speaking movies on longer journeys.
  • Highest quality brake and suspension system: To ensure that every passenger has a smooth and seamless journey.
  • Blankets for every passenger: Snuggle up and get some sleep on longer trips.
  • GPS monitoring system: Allows us to track our buses every step of the way and monitor driver velocity.
  • USB ports on every seat: Charge your phone or any device throughout your whole trip.

Bus Safety Controls

  • Large team of drivers: Our drivers are not overworked/tired as is often the case on other buses.
  • Tour guide onboard: Our tour guide does regular checks on the drivers.
  • Seatbelts: We have a seatbelt for every passenger and ask our passengers to wear them at all times.
  • 24 hour GPS monitoring: Every bus is monitored from a secure point via GPS…we always know where the bus is and if it is taking any unscheduled stops.
  • Constant contact: The drivers and the guide communicate continuously by telephone with the Peru Hop office.
  • No tight deadlines: Our drivers are under NO pressure to arrive at a certain time, no need for increased speed or unnecessary risks.

Frequently Asked Questions

You might have some questions about our service and of course Peru itself. Our FAQs are aimed at helping you with any questions you may have.

Just click on any question and get the answer straight away!

What health and hygiene protocols are in place during the trip?

The health and safety of all of our passengers is, and has always been, our top priority. Due to the current situation, we’ve examined our protocols, journeys and service to make sure that we exceed the safety expectations of everyone who travels with us. We sought guidance from the World Health Organization and government agencies, and, because of years of experience, we’ve been able to help define protocols for travel in Peru. We’re surpassing safety standards, for you, the passenger, and will continue doing so moving forward.

What exactly is a hop-on, hop-off bus?

Our buses follow a specific route and you can hop-on and hop-off at each of our destinations whenever you like, according to our timetable. Your pass is valid for 1 year in 1 direction, so you can stay as long as you want in 1 place or just follow our recommended schedule!

What's the difference between the 6am and 7am bus?

6am: Direct bus to Paracas, which gives you the possibility to continue to Huacachina on the same day if you are short on time.

7am: Allows you to stop at places like Mirasur to witness a Peruvian horse show (free) and visit the Secret Slave Tunnels in Chincha (exclusive hidden gem stop – free). One night in Paracas is required.

How do I change my itinerary while on the road?

Once you book a ticket, you will get your unique reservation code on your booking confirmation that gives you access to the HOP LOGIN. There, you’ll be able to change your travel dates, pick-up locations and put your pass on hold. It’s that simple! All changes to your itinerary have to be made a MINIMUM OF 12 HOURS BEFORE YOUR NEXT DEPARTURE DATE!

How do I book extra tours?

We accept tour reservations on our buses but we always recommend reserving tours in advance and paying securely online via FindLocalTrips.com to avoid costly ATM withdrawal fees and currency exchange rate charges.

They offer a very flexible change of tour date policy to Peru Hop passengers. Changes are free of charge right up until the day before the tour is due to start.

Is Peru Hop available for everybody?

Families, single travelers, couples and groups of friends of all ages are welcome to join us traveling through Peru. Our buses always carry a mix of people from different countries and age groups, that’s what makes traveling with Peru Hop such a great experience.

Booking In Advance?

We are proud that word of mouth from our ex-hopsters means our tickets often sell out in advance, so we strongly recommend you book as soon as possible. Remember that once you have a ticket, you can change your start date up to 24 hours before departure.

Do the buses run on time?

Peru Hop is an EXTREMELY punctual service, especially compared to other Peruvian bus companies who are unfortunately late a lot (as can be seen from their tripadvisor reviews). If you have a tour or hotel booked and in the very rare case our bus is late, our onboard guides will help you by calling your tours and hotels to assist you as much as possible, but really this should never happen on Peru Hop.
