Mother’s Day means so much more to me now that I’m a mom myself. I mean, I’ve always appreciated Mother’s Day and have loved celebrating my mom and MIL. But now that I know first-hand how big of a job being a mother is, it has a different meaning for me. I took so much that my mom did for granted and have a whole new appreciation of all she sacrificed for her six kids.
I don’t think she even realizes what she did was special, but I have so many fond memories and traditions around holidays thanks to her. She also taught me how to make bread and I’m kicking myself that I didn’t have her teach me how to sew and how to plant garden beds properly. (I’m just hoping for the best with all the plants I bought this week!)
Moms are SO amazing, and while I think we could stand to celebrate Mother’s Day more than just once a year, I try to make it special for the moms in my life.
In today’s post I’m rounding up all of the best Mother’s Day gift ideas I can think of, both in the affordable (Amazon, mostly) category, and in the higher-end, pricier category. Mother’s Day isn’t all about gifts of course, but a small token of appreciation is always a great way to show someone you love them. And let’s be real – sometimes us moms just need an excuse to order ourselves a little something.
I hope this gift guide makes shopping for the lovely mother figures in your life a breeze. And, if you want to casually text it to your husband to make sure you get a decent gift, tell him I told you to do so. 😉
The first place I thought of when I started to plan out this blog post was Amazon since what mom doesn’t love shopping on Amazon? I’ve been blown away by how many great (and high quality) things I’ve found since I started writing weekly Amazon roundups, and I knew I’d find a handful of perfect gift ideas for Mother’s Day. I wasn’t disappointed!
A beautiful table top item is always a great gift, and this rattan water pitcher is just as useful as it is pretty. And when she isn’t serving her guests, your mom can use this as a flower vase. In fact, you could easily add some flowers to the pitcher when you present your gift or pair it with an Urban Stems subscription. (More on that below.)
I immediately bought this blanket for myself when I found it online. It’s a great throw blanket for outdoor patio sets since it’s not too real cashmere, but it’s soft and cozy enough to keep inside as well. I love how thin it feels (like a pashmina), since it’s warming up quite a bit and our heavy blankets are being stored away. I ordered the light blue and it’s beautiful. (It’s showing up a little more green in this picture than it actually is. It’s more of a true sky blue.)
I’ve been doing the Bible Recap this year with Tara-Leigh Cobble, and it has truly been AMAZING. She wrote this devotional that also doubles as a beautiful coffee table book on Israel. I’m getting this for my mother-in-law, along with an Ember mug.
I’ve carried this bag nonstop since I bought it a few months ago and can’t recommend it enough! It’s such a nice size for everyday: not too big or heavy, but it can still hold everything you might want to carry with you, including a laptop. It’s wipeable and easy to clean, the green color is super fun and easy to style for spring, and the best part? It looks almost exactly like its more expensive twin, the St. Barths by Naghedi.
Who doesn’t love a pretty set of cheese knives? Even if your mom already has a set, they’re likely needing a refresh. I love the idea of gifting this set from Amazon alongside a wooden cheese board from a local store (I love Fiddle and Fig in Winston Salem). Or you could bring over her favorite hors d’oeuvres and share them with her.
One of my very favorite stores in Winston-Salem is doing a Candle Subscription that you can gift for Mother’s Day! Essentially, you pay for all three candles up front, but they are delivered over the course of May-July, so that your mom would get a new one each month! I LOVE their candles (and I’m extremely picky and sensitive to scent), and think this would make a wonderful gift.
Now for some of my favorite gifts in a slightly higher price range.
Jewelry is always a perfect gift idea for moms, and Mejuri is the way to go. I finally invested in some fine everyday jewelry, and I wear it almost daily. I have a handful of favorites from this brand. First is this tiny band with pave diamonds on the top. It stacks perfectly with other rings, and the price tag is SO good for diamonds!
Next is this Round Topaz Necklace. It lays so elegantly but has such a stunning stone. I love that you could wear it on its own or layered with other jewelry.
My third pick would be these Gold Huggies Earrings. I love how simple they are (such a great everyday option!).
If you really want to splurge on something for your mom, this heart shape necklace is stunning.
I’ve gifted Ember mugs to almost every friend and family member in my life at this point! They are THE best invention ever made, and you can’t convince me otherwise. If you don’t know what an Ember mug is, it’s a coffee mug that reheats your coffee to the perfect temp whenever it starts to cool off. I stick the mug back on the charger before I head to bed. This is ideal for new moms who aren’t able to drink their coffee while it’s hot in between feedings and diaper changes. I recommend the 14oz option because who’s drinking only 10oz of coffee…
These LAKE Pajamas would also make a great Mother’s Day gift if you want to pair the mug with something else and spoil your favorite mom. (This post has more details on why I love LAKE pjs so much.)
You know what’s better than sending your mom flowers for Mother’s Day? Sending her flowers every month with a subscription. Flowers are nice, but a flower subscription is truly lovely. And Urban Stems makes THE most stunning arrangements too. See the one below that I sent to Hannah!
I hope this makes shopping a bit easier and one thing you can cross off your mental to-do list!
