Turns out that my allergies have developed into a full-blown sinus infection. The doc sent me away with a zpak and a handful of tissues. I’m very cloudy headedand can’t really think straight. And can’t really breathe. So since I’m taking the day off from working out, I’ll share the details from my most favorite workout to date.
I beat my half marathon PR a couple weekends ago. I was absolutely shocked and thrilled since I didn’t train intensely. I signed up for the race months ago but between my foot injury and just not feeling like running, I wasn’t planning on running the race. In fact about a month out from the race, I was still running just 3-5 miles at a time. I decided to increase my mileage and just use race day as a training run for the Mistletoe Half Marathon that’s coming up in a few weeks. In the three weekends leading up to the race, I ran 6 miles, 8 miles, and then 10 miles.
But on race day, I just felt great. And I went for it. The last two miles huuuurt and I wanted to slow down but I kept picturing how I would feel at the finish line.
And it was worth it. I finished in 1:43:17, 6 minutes faster than my last half marathon PR, with an average pace of 7:53.
I guess this mirror at the race expo was lucky. 🙂
I haven’t purchased pictures from the official race photographers, but when I do, I’ll share some!

That is so fast!! I am way impressed, but mostly annoyed because I don’t think I could go that fast with training. 😉
haha! You never know! 🙂 I NEVER ever thought I could run that fast!
Nice work! I’d like to run another half sometime soon.
half marathons really are the perfect race distance, don’t you think? love them!
Congratulations! Someday your body can surprise and you when you train less, you can really do well.
i love those kind of surprises! it honestly seems to be that the less I run, the better i do. i guess my body needs recovery time! 🙂
