Remember when I told you I got to judge a rescue dog wine label contest for Raffaldini? Well, the unveiling ceremony to announce the winner was last Saturday! So many cute pups entered!!
And this was the winner!! MUNSON!!! I got to meet him before the unveiling and have some one-on-one time to get all the face smooshing, pup kisses, and pets I wanted. 🙂
I was seriously obsessed with him–so cute and sweet. Plus, he looked so much like Maizey’s best friend Annie the bulldog! Munson was in pretty rough shape when he was rescued, but now he’s a healthy happy boy and has two bulldog sisters. He has great humans that take care of him and take him to work everyday too.
The other judge was a local veterinarian (wish I could remember her name! She was lovely). And that’s Jay Raffaldini on the left, the owner of the beautiful vineyard.
We all said a few words and then Jay let Munson make his grand entrance to introduce him as the winner to the crowd.
When Munson came down the stairs when they announced him, the crowd started cracking up. Soooo slow. I LOVE bulldogs. hahahhaa.
I love the wine bottle with his picture on it. I have a couple on my wine rack now. You can buy the Pino Vino wine online; it’s a special bottling of their Sangiovese Reserve, which is my favorite Raffaldini wine. And a portion of the proceeds benefit local animal shelters and organizations.
Thank you so much to Raffaldini for letting me be a part of such a wonderful event. I was so honored to be involved and am so grateful for what Raffaldini does for this cause.
John and I stuck around afterwards and did a wine tasting and enjoyed the beautiful weather and view. I wish we had taken a picnic. It was a perfect day to be at the vineyard.
We also met a few other dog lovers, including this guy who had two boxers! He got tattoos of their cute faces when they passed.
It was a pretty perfect day.
Thank you again Raffaldini and co.! And congrats Munson! Come visit anytime. 🙂 I’m sure Maizey will be nice (because she will think you are Annie. 😉 )

How fun!!! I would happy judge a contest like this.
Off to buy some wine…
Awwww…Munson is adorable. Raffaldini called us back in May (?) to tell us that our Pointer Loretta was a finalist, but we had to withdraw her because we have moved to Colorado and it didn’t seem practical/fair to Loretta to transport her back to NC should she have been the winner. I sent such a goofy picture of her smiling that I never expected to hear anything. We adopted Loretta from Stokes County Animal Shelter just in the nick of time–she literally had only a few hours left. Our vet said she had been used as a puppy factory and at age 2 already had a low grade breast cancer. Our Hank was a finalist two years ago and Steve and I went to welcome the winner, who was a Boxer. What a great event and what fun! It must have been difficult to judge with so many cute faces. Raffaldini is one of the NC places I will miss so much, but I have 100+ wineries and vineyards in Colorado to explore. I am already missing the Vermentino, Montepulciano Riserva, and Girasole! Oh, well, and all the rest, too.

The pleasure meeting you and your husband was Munson’s.
I think you got him calmed down so that when he made
the big walk down the stairs, he was relaxed. Thank you
for giving of your time to judge this contest. I know that
was a difficult task. Munson, Lida and I deeply appreciate
all that you did. I think he will represent the Raffaldini
family with class (and hopefully, sale a lot of wine).I must
admit that Saturday will always be a special time for our
family, and you made it possible. Again, thanks.
