I can’t believe I’m writing this, but Thomas starts preschool in a month. I’m nervous about it, and sad that I won’t be with him in the mornings, but I think he’s truly going to thrive, which makes me excited. One of the things that’s taking my mind off the nerves of his first week is ordering some cute school related things.
I got him a backpack last week, and while he isn’t going to need much more than that (maybe just his water bottle), I know some of you have kids in elementary school and will need a few other essentials.
I used to get so excited for back to school time. My mom would take us to get new school supplies, and I would have the best time organizing everything and getting my backpack ready for the first day. I had the best time looking through Amazon for school essentials for your littles. I hope this roundup helps you feel prepared and excited for the weeks ahead!
This little backpack is the perfect size for kids 3-8 years old. It’s lightweight, doesn’t have too many pockets, and comes in a lot of cute patterns for little boys and girls. I got Thomas the trucks pattern, of course.
In case you don’t already have one of these at home, snag an insulated water bottle that’s spill proof. This one has a silicone drinking spout/straw that Thomas really likes and I like that it’s stainless steel and not plastic.
Thomas won’t be staying for lunch at preschool, but if your kiddo is, you’ll want an insulated lunch box. This is a SUPER basic design, but it’s also very easy to wipe out and clean as needed. It comes in multiple cute patterns and is only $12. The lining is made with nontoxic PEVA that can keep hot food hot and cold food cold for 8-10 hours.
Instead of a fancy lunchbox, I’d snag a Bentgo box to put inside the lunchbox above. You can easily throw it into the dishwasher each evening, and sections are perfect portion sizes for your kids. I’m actually going to buy one of these to keep in Boone since we often end up eating out at a park or at my in-laws and it’d be nice to pack his food with us.
You definitely don’t want to be scrambling for socks on your first day of school. This pack of 14 ankle socks will get you through at least a few weeks. 😉
Not essential by any means, but I’m definitely getting this 1st Day of School Board for our first day of school. Then, I’ll take a pic each year to include in our Chatbook!
I love the idea of getting this notepad customized so that it says “note from the parents of Thomas Adams” so I can send notes with him to school if needed. You can customize it directly on Amazon. I also really like Joy Creative Shop for things like this, and I have a discount code you can use with them. Use code Terilyn10 for 10% off your order there!
The clothes I’m linking below aren’t all from Amazon, but I wanted to be sure to share them anyway since they’re so cute!
I’m snagging a few pairs of these pull on chino shorts for Thomas.
I’m also snagging a few more pairs of these little drawstring shorts too.
When Thomas wears little collared shirts, it melts me.
I like to get these crewneck t-shirts in packs of 3 because we seem to get stains on them often and sometimes even my beloved Branch Basics can’t get stains by Thomas out.
These sneakers are the perfect everyday shoe for both boys and girls. These come in a few different colors.
If you want a little dressier option for the first day, we love everything from Little English. It’s really high quality and it’s what we often dress him in for family photos and holidays. This long sleeve polo may be too warm for some of you (including us in Winston-Salem) for the first week, but I wanted to include it since it’s something he’ll wear in just a few months.
These khaki pants are a really good option for when you need something a little dressier. These are a little pricier than anything I’d usually buy for Thomas, but I think it’s important to have a nice pair of pants on hand for him. Who knows when we’ll need them!
