One of my all-time favorite retailers is Nordstrom. They carry so many brands that I love in a range of prices, and their customer service is top tier (you can return almost anything at any time and they cover return shipping).
Every season I love to go through the new arrivals on Nordstrom.com and round up my favorite finds. Today’s post is all about fall dresses since we’re finally approaching the cooler months. I always appreciate a great dress find since it’s an outfit all on it’s own versus needing multiple pieces. (I also have a post about wedding guest dresses from Nordstrom.)
Below I’m rounding up casual, work, and dressier dress finds. I hope something works for you!
I got this sweater minidress for myself during the Nordstrom Anniversary sale and absolutely LOVE it. With the right shoes, it would be perfect for an office, but I’ll wear it casually. I love it with these platform heels (so maybe not quite so casually, ha!) and lug sole loafers. I have an XS in this dress, and it runs true to size.
I love this olive green midi dress because of the ribbed top. I have a growing baby bump right now and dresses like this work really well for that. The olive color is a perfect for fall too! Moon River makes such chic and affordable dresses! The listing calls this a maxi dress but I’d say it’s a midi.
Rails makes really comfortable clothes, and this long sleeved linen dress looks like the perfect thing for summer-to-fall fashion. I always struggle to find the right things to wear in the awkward “not quite fall but definitely not summer” times, but this is perfect with simple braided sandals or white Veja sneakers.
I got this grey sweater dress during the Anniversary summer sale and it’s one of the softest dresses ever. It was a little too long on me (I’m 5’1″), but should be great on most women. I liked it with heeled ankle booties and it would also pair well with knee high boots like these. It would also work well in an office.
If you’ve never tried on something from the AirEssentials line from SPANX, you are missing out. It’s the softest, smoothest, cooling material ever. I love everything about it. This sweatshirt shift dress would be such a nice option for lounging (especially with a bump). I’d pair it with sneakers!
This long sleeved black fitted dress is another gorgeous option for fall. I ordered this specifically because I’ll have a baby bump this fall and I think it’ll look so cute with that. It’s also a perfect event dress for weddings or fundraisers. There is ruching along the torso which is super flattering, bump or not. I have a size 1.
In theory this drop waist minidress could be considered dressy if you wore heels with it, but I think it would also be a great everyday dress with loafers like these, booties with a heel and knee-high boots. The colors are perfect for fall, and the long sleeves are really nice for wearing later into fall and into winter.
This Madewell midi dress looks like it could be from a high-end designer! The three-quarter-length sleeves are perfect for fall, along with the darker color. My favorite thing about this dress is the feminine neckline. I love love LOVE it. I would wear this with my favorite block heeled sandals or my heeled booties. Or, clogs like these would work as well.
I’m always drawn to Eliza J dresses because they are so classic. The length of this navy sheath dress is perfect for all things work (and there’s a vented back hem so it’s easy to walk in), but there’s also nothing boring about it. The tie waist is flattering, the neckline is perfect for pretty jewelry, and the split flutter sleeves are super chic.
This black tie-side sweater dress is another work appropriate winner. The tie waist is flattering and feminine, and so is the scoop neckline. While black doesn’t feel like the most “fun” option, it’s slimming and the most flattering option, always. And you can accessorize with any other color, which means you can wear this 100 times without getting bored.
I love this black wrap dress because it can be worn in the summer and into the middle of fall with booties and a checkered blazer like this. The short sleeves make it the perfect transition dress.
This longer mock neck dress would be great for an office setting this fall. You could layer a checkered blazer like this over the top, pair with classic nude pumps, and you’ll be golden.
This black long sleeve dress is another great work staple. The belt is a fun touch, and the material is made of a spandex/polyester blend, so it will be comfortable and stretchy. A removable tie belt is always a flattering feature, and the neckline is perfect for dainty gold jewelry. (Mejuri is my favorite brand for high-quality, everyday jewelry.)
While none of these are truly formal or even super dressy options, but they are a little nicer than I’d wear on a normal day. I’d wear these to church or to a nicer event. This post has wedding guest dresses from Nordstrom if you need cocktail or black tie options.
This little black dress is SO cute for a dressy occasion this fall and winter. The feminine spaghetti straps are the perfect dainty touch and I just love the little bows. Pair this with a cute pair of strappy heels like these.
I bought this floral midi dress during the summer and cannot wait to wear it this fall. The colors are so gorgeous in person, and the high neckline makes this a really fun option for an updo or ponytail. I’ve worn it to church and a couple work events, and it’s also pretty enough to wear to a wedding paired with strappy heels like these. I have this in an XS and it fits true to size.
I LOVE this pink satin dress. This would be the perfect dress an event this fall. The color is fun, but the shape and length are both conservative. Since satin is a dressier fabric, it can easily be dressed up with accessories for a wedding or cocktail party.
Everyone needs a classic, simple long-sleeved black dress in their closet for the winter months and this is a chic option. The smocked high neck lends itself to fun earrings and hair pulled back into a sleek bun.
It’s hard to think about the holidays this early, but this is truly the perfect red holiday cocktail dress for upcoming holiday parties this year. The deep red is festive, the long sleeves are appropriate for winter, and the sheen is fun! Get this now and thank me later this year.
The perfect fall wedding guest dress for cocktail attire! I would pair this with these strappy black heels or nude heels would also work. And Mejuri gold jewelry is gorgeous but won’t compete with the pattern.
I hope this post was helpful and that you find something you love for any upcoming events. Or, just to refresh your wardrobe a bit!
